TLDR

  • AMD stock gained 1.58% and closed at $503.57 before the August 4 earnings report.
  • Microsoft will deploy AMD Helios systems to support large-scale artificial intelligence workloads on Azure.
  • Azure will add two AMD EPYC-powered virtual machine series and expand Pensando DPU deployments.
  • Analysts expect AMD to report strong quarterly revenue and earnings per share.
  • AMD stock faces resistance near $522, while the $500 level remains important support.

AMD stock advanced before the August 4 earnings report as traders assessed new Microsoft infrastructure commitments. The partnership expands AMD hardware and software across Azure, supporting demand expectations for AMD stock before quarterly results. However, mixed technical signals and geopolitical risks continue to shape the near-term outlook.

Microsoft Expands AMD Infrastructure Across Azure

Microsoft will deploy the AMD Helios Rackscale Solution to support large-scale artificial intelligence workloads on Azure. The system combines AMD graphics processors, server processors, networking technology, and software services. This deployment strengthens the commercial backdrop supporting AMD stock before the earnings release.

Azure will also introduce two virtual machine series powered by AMD EPYC processors. Microsoft will broaden its use of Pensando data processing units across Azure networking services. These additions expand AMD’s role across computing, networking, and cloud infrastructure.

AMD Chief Executive Lisa Su described the agreement as an extension of years of infrastructure collaboration. “AMD and Microsoft have spent years building high-performance infrastructure together,” Su said. She added that both companies were extending the partnership across AMD artificial intelligence solutions on Azure.

AMD stock closed at $503.57 after gaining 1.58% during the latest trading session. Shares moved between $502.36 and $522.44, while premarket pricing later reached about $524.28. The advance continued a broader rally from levels below $200 earlier in the period.

Market attention has shifted toward AMD’s August 4 quarterly earnings report. Analysts expect stronger revenue and earnings per share after the company’s first-quarter performance. Those expectations have supported AMD stock as the reporting date approaches.

Technical Levels and External Risks Shape Outlook

Short-term indicators still present a mixed picture for AMD stock. The Relative Strength Index stands at 47.60, below its moving average of 53.39. That reading indicates softer buying momentum despite the latest price increase.

The negative directional indicator stands at 28.56, above the positive reading of 25.76. AMD stock must hold the $500 level to preserve its recent trading structure. A sustained move above $522 could support another test near the latest highs around $540.

A break below $500 could expose AMD stock to the previous support zone. Meanwhile, higher oil prices and possible supply disruptions remain external risks during the United States-Iran conflict. AMD stock enters August with stronger Azure demand, earnings expectations, and clear technical levels guiding its next move.
