LayerZero's decision to withdraw off-chain support from 15 low-activity chains marks a notable consolidation in the interoperability layer's resource allocation. This is a confirmed operational change rather than a speculative proposal, with a defined 30-day timeline affecting DVN and Executor services across networks like Arbitrum Nova, Cronos zkEVM, and Degen. The move signals that LayerZero is prioritizing network efficiency and focusing support on chains with meaningful transaction volumes, which could reshape how smaller ecosystems access cross-chain messaging. Users holding Hydra assets such as USDC.e, wETH, and Hydra USDT on affected networks face a redemption window, making asset migration a near-term priority. Watch for whether other interoperability protocols follow suit with similar support reductions, and monitor how affected chains respond with alternative bridging solutions or incentives to retain users.

PANews reported on August 22 that LayerZero said in a post that due to extremely low activity on some chains, it will gradually stop providing off-chain support for EDU Chain, Meter, Shimmer, Cyber, Silicon, Sophon, Bitlayer, DFK Chain, Arbitrum Nova, DOS Chain, Cronos zkEVM, Degen, Skale Europa, Superposition and Shrapnel over the next 30 days.
At that time, LayerZero’s DVN and Executor services will no longer support the above networks, and some networks will also no longer receive Stargate Hydra support. LayerZero reminds users to promptly redeem Hydra assets such as USDC.e, wETH and Hydra USDT from the relevant networks.
