Ripple puts Brazilian fund records on XRP Ledger

Analysis
Ripple and Brazilian central securities depository CSD BR have begun mirroring investment-fund ownership records onto the public XRP Ledger, starting with BTG Pactual fund shares, which marks a shift from pilot programs to a live regulated setting. The substantive change is architectural rather than transactional: CSD BR keeps legal ownership, registration, deposit and settlement authority, while XRPL serves only as a parallel audit layer using the Multi-Purpose Token standard, so no investor workflow changes in this first phase. The transmission path runs through Brazil's registered asset infrastructure, which holds more than BRL 22 trillion, giving XRPL a foothold in a large regulated market if the model holds up under operational scrutiny. Watch whether independent verification of mirrored records works at scale, whether KYC and AML controls stay enforced as more issuers join, and whether later phases extend the same approach to real estate and agribusiness debt securities.

Future phases could bring Brazilian real estate and agribusiness debt securities directly onto blockchain infrastructure. Ripple said on Sept. 29 that CSD BR will use the public XRP Ledger as an extra record and audit layer while its own systems remain the official source for ownership, registration, deposit and settlement. CSD BR currently has more than BRL 22 trillion in registered assets. The project goes beyond a closed proof of concept because transactions will take place within CSD BR’s existing market infrastructure. Investors, issuers and other participants will continue using the same processes during this first phase.
