RealFi Public Testnet Now Live for USDr Ahead of Mainnet

Analisi
RealFi's public testnet launch marks a notable step for real-world asset-backed stablecoin infrastructure on Cardano, positioning USDr as a yield-generating dollar token rather than a purely transactional stablecoin. The protocol's design, where staking USDr into sUSDr channels returns from private credit and fixed-income portfolios, represents a shift away from token-incentive-driven yield models that have dominated DeFi. The decision to launch first on Cardano with EVM support planned later suggests a multi-chain expansion strategy that could broaden the protocol's reach if successful. Key developments to watch include the quality and volume of testnet participation, how the team addresses feedback before mainnet, and whether the RWA yield model proves sustainable without emissions-based incentives. Regulatory restrictions excluding US, EU, UK, and Hong Kong users will also shape the protocol's early adoption geography.

The Testnet is now live and serves as the first phase of public testing before RealFi’s mainnet launch later this year. Participants can explore the full flow, from holding USDr to staking into sUSDr, and provide feedback that will help shape the mainnet release. USDr is designed as a liquid, stability-focused dollar test token. Users who stake USDr receive sUSDr, which is structured to earn returns generated by a portfolio of real-world assets, including private credit and other fixed-income instruments. These returns are not driven by token incentives or emissions. “Most stablecoin capital today sits idle,” said John O’Connor, CEO of RealFi. “We built RealFi so that on-chain dollars can do more than just exist, they can be linked to real economic activity while keeping the liquidity people expect.” RealFi is launching first on Cardano, with EVM support planned to follow. The Public Testnet allows the team to test infrastructure, user flows and market behaviour under live conditions before expanding further. Join the Public Testnet Users can access the RealFi Public Testnet now. Feedback from this phase will directly inform the mainnet launch. “This is infrastructure designed for durability, not short-term speculation,” O’Connor added. “The Testnet is the opportunity for people to see how it works before we go live.” About RealFi RealFi is building on-chain dollar infrastructure backed by real-world assets. Through USDr and sUSDr, the protocol aims to give stablecoin holders a clearer way to access returns generated outside of crypto-native markets.
