Ripple Prime Opens Access to $9 Billion Real-World Asset Perpetuals Market

Analysis
Ripple Prime's move into stock, ETF and commodity perpetuals marks a structural shift from crypto-only derivatives toward a multi-asset venue, with Hyperliquid's Trade.xyz acting as the underlying market infrastructure rather than Ripple building the order book itself. That distinction matters because it makes Ripple's distribution and compliance layer the differentiator, while liquidity, listing standards and settlement risk remain tied to a third-party platform. The $9 billion market figure and the "more than 100 markets" claim both originate from Coin Bureau and are not independently detailed, so scale should be treated as an estimate rather than a verified metric. The separate Bloomberg-sourced remark that hedge funds are "very close" to direct tokenized RWA access is explicitly unconfirmed and unlinked to Ripple Prime's current offering. Worth watching next: whether Ripple publishes eligibility and jurisdictional rules for these non-crypto perpetuals, whether Trade.xyz discloses volumes and instrument lists, and whether any named hedge fund actually launches tokenized RWA access.

Ripple Prime expands access to more than 100 stock, ETF and commodity markets through Hyperliquid's Trade.xyz.

Ripple is expanding access to real-world asset (RWA) perpetual futures markets through Ripple Prime, opening a route for institutional participants to trade tokenized and traditional asset-linked markets through infrastructure connected to Hyperliquid's Trade.xyz platform. The development gives users access to more than 100 markets spanning stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and commodities, according to Coin Bureau.

The expansion follows Ripple's launch of crypto perpetual futures in February. The latest offering broadens the range of instruments available through Ripple Prime beyond cryptocurrency-linked derivatives, connecting the service with a market that Coin Bureau values at $9 billion.

Ripple Expands Beyond Crypto Perpetuals

Perpetual futures are derivatives contracts without a fixed expiration date. They allow traders to gain exposure to an asset's price movements without necessarily holding the underlying asset. The addition of stock, ETF and commodity markets extends the range of instruments available through the Ripple Prime offering.

According to Coin Bureau, the markets are provided through Hyperliquid's Trade.xyz. The platform's listed instruments cover three broad categories: stocks, ETFs and commodities. The offering includes more than 100 markets, although the source post does not specify the individual instruments, trading volumes or how the $9 billion market valuation was calculated.

The move builds on Ripple's February launch of crypto perpetuals. By adding exposure to other asset categories, Ripple Prime is extending the scope of its trading services into markets associated with real-world assets. The announcement, however, does not detail the full eligibility requirements or geographic availability for participants.

Hedge Funds and Tokenized Real-World Assets

Coin Bureau also cited Bloomberg in reporting that hedge funds are "very close" to gaining direct access to tokenized real-world assets. The statement points to potential progress in connecting institutional investment firms with assets represented on blockchain networks, although no specific launch date, participating funds or products were identified in the post.

Tokenization represents ownership rights or economic exposure to real-world assets through blockchain-based tokens. The approach can provide a digital format for representing assets, but access arrangements and the rights attached to individual tokens depend on the structure of each product.

The Bloomberg-referenced comment about hedge funds remains separate from the description of Ripple Prime's current offering. Coin Bureau did not state that direct hedge-fund access to tokenized assets had already launched, nor did it identify which institutions were involved.

For now, the specific figures highlighted in the report are Ripple Prime's access to more than 100 stock, ETF and commodity markets through Hyperliquid's Trade.xyz, the $9 billion real-world asset perpetuals market, and the earlier crypto-perpetuals launch in February.
