PANews July 14 news, according to Cointelegraph, the U.S. "Clarity Act" has gained public support from a second major law enforcement organization ahead of the Senate's August recess. The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association wrote to the Senate Banking Committee on July 10 supporting the bill, while also calling for revisions to DeFi protection provisions to strengthen accountability, clarify responsibility attribution in decentralized finance systems, and prevent enterprises from evading regulation under the guise of decentralization.
Previously, the bill had already received support from the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives; the two letters help counter arguments that the bill would weaken the government’s ability to combat crypto crime. However, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association still requested narrowing the scope of DeFi protections, amending the "specific intent" wording to facilitate identifying responsibility, and clarifying that the bill does not limit existing federal investigative powers. Earlier, four law enforcement organizations wrote to the White House in June expressing concerns about Section 604.
